Tearing down the walls

Today, Paul started to take apart the kitchen. This is the wall behind the fridge - more lath and plaster! Behind this wall is the old stairway upstairs. The door you see to the left used to be the entrance to the suite up there. At one point, the doorway from the kitchen was actually a full wall and there was one on the other side as well, so the door was the only way to get into and out of the upstairs suite.
