Disney On Ice

Today we went to see Disney on Ice "Worlds of Fantasy" - it's the first time I've been to one of these shows in over 30 years! I shouldn't have been surprised at the quality of the show since it is DISNEY after all, but the costumes, sets, and just the production itself were amazing & I thoroughly enjoyed it.

We had a lot of fun - our friends at the Princess Pre-Show! Here are Cinderella and Princess Tiana (the new princess from the movie "The Princess and the Frog"). They had gorgeous dresses!

The four little princesses:
Cinderella Mackenzie, Belle Cassie, Belle Isabelle, and Tinkerbell Holly.

After we got a few shots of the princesses all together, Holly announced that they would all be taking photos "one by one" . . .

The show started with Minnie & Mickey Mouse in their car going on an adventure . . .

Cars from the movie "Cars"! It was pretty cool to see real cars on the ice.

Lightning McQueen . . .

The Little Mermaid - with Flounder and Sebastian.

Under the Sea - one of my favourite songs!

Rafiki - from the Lion King . . .

Intermission - we had the girls sit all together in front of us and the adults (me, my mom, Belinda, Mimi & Jeff) sat in the row behind.

Can you spot 3 Belles in this picture? Bel (Belinda), Belle from Beauty & the Beast and Belle (Isabelle)!

This one has 4 Belles! We added TinkerBELL!

After the intermission, the remainder of the show was dedicated to Tinkerbell. Queen Clarion even flew through the air!

Spring comes to Pixie Hollow! See how the flowers start blooming around the ice - pretty amazing how they did that - it looked so realistic!

Message from Santa

For the second year in a row (the website was created just last year), Holly has received an email from Santa! It's awesome - she gets to see her picture in Santa's special book with her name - and this year it shows what she wants for Christmas, too! I love this website - the expression on Holly's face when she watches it and sees her own picture there and Santa talking to her is sooo priceless. If you have kids, you should check it out - and even if you're an adult, they have added something so you can send it to a friend (naughty OR nice!).

The website is santa.sympatico.ca - if you want to see Holly's, send me an email and I'll give you the password!

Tea Party

Today, Holly went with Cassie & Mackenzie to a store called "Kiss A Frog" to learn about tea etiquette - yes, tea etiquette! The lady that owns the store went downtown to one of the 5-star hotels and learned proper tea etiquette and now they have little tea parties for kids at the store - they also do tea party birthdays. We weren't allowed to take photos in the tea room, but a photographer was there with the girl and we'll be able to see some pictures in a few weeks - and if we like them, we can purchase them!

All the little girls who went were dressed up in pretty dresses and they learned how to sit properly, hold their tea cups, take small bites of food so they could also talk to their friends, and they also learned a "tea-party" secret handshake! They drank "tea" (Holly told me it was real tea, but I'm not sure about that), ate crackers with cheese, fruit, and got mini cupcakes, too.

Holly looked really cute in the new little dress I had bought her for winter, but she wouldn't let me take a picture of her. Cassie & Mackenzie did, though:

I forgot that Holly did end up letting me take her picture - with her camera... here she is demonstrating the proper tea posture!

Hallowe'en continues?!

It all started with my cousin, Lauren. . . she dressed up as a Care Bear for Hallowe'en (Funshine Bear to be exact!), and we wanted to see her costume, with her in it! She offered up some photos, but we said that wasn't good enough, so she replied, "I will if you will". One things lead to another and before you know it, all the cousins got roped into dressing up for Sunday dinner. Actually, we had discussed doing this last week, but we had family hockey game night so we couldn't do it (or chose not to, since we were going out in public!). So. . . Hallowe'en continued in our family for one more night!

Thing 2, Aladdin, Funshine Bear & a baby Penguin.

Baby Owne's first Hallowe'en - I remember that!

We also had Thing 1, a vampire, a teddy bear and Tinkerbell in the house!

Strange family - don't know how Thing 1 & Thing 2 made a little Tinkerbell =)

We even got my grandfather in on the fun - once upon a time my grandparents dressed up as 2 clowns for Hallowe'en - complete with full makeup!

Owen trying on Aladdin's hat. . . seems to fit quite well!

And then Chun Li came for a visit - she's a character from the video game "Street Fighter" for those of you who can remember a few years back . . .

First Canuck Game

Tonight we went to the hockey game - it was Holly's first time at an NHL hockey game and her first Canucks game, too. Most of my family was there because my grandmother was being honoured as a long-time Canuck fan. This event was being planned for some time - back to February for her 90th birthday, but she wasn't up to it at the time. We all wished she could have been there, but since the Canucks beat the Colorado Avalanche (currently at the top of the League!), and also got a shutout 3-0, we believe she was definitely there - the "6th player" on the ice!

My Uncle David - a long-time Canucks season ticket holder. . .

My 96-year old grandfather. . . perhaps the oldest Canuck fan?! You can also see a photo on the Canucks' website: http://cdn.nhl.com/canucks/images/upload/2009/11/Nov%201%20THOG2.jpg
