Mowgli!

Tomorrow, our neighbour's cat is coming to live with us! She will be Holly's cat and her name is Mowgli (like the little boy from the Jungle Book). Her current owner is moving and taking his dog with him, but can't take the cat as well. He knows that Holly really likes Mowgli and asked if we would adopt her.

We went and got her a few things - a water and food dish, and some toys . . .   can you spot the bunny and the mouse?!

Tennis

Tennis camp with Jorge - the same teacher as last year (remember: Diego?!). Cassie and Sienna also came to tennis camp this week.

Today was Paul's 50th birthday!

Mount Baker

We went to visit Holly's friend from school, Katie, and her family at Mt. Baker. Five families were there for 2 days of fun.




Kebira went fishing in the little lake and caught a fish!!! It was very exciting, because it was her first catch ever.

Holly's friends were over this afternoon to play on the trampoline. While we were hanging out in the back yard, a family of critters made an appearance. . .

Soccer Camp

Holly and some of her friends have been in soccer camp this week. It's been a lot of fun - it's hosted by the New Westminster Police Department and has been running annually since 1981. They break up the kids by age and teach them soccer skills, along with taking them to the petting zoo, having the dog squad visit, and getting soaked by the New Westminster Fire Department, as well!

Paul has been working on a privacy screen the past couple of days. Here is the finished product!

Wind Farm

We decided to head home through the desert, and stop in Leavenworth, one of our favourite places to visit. It's a great little town that looks like it has been transported from Germany!

Along the way, we see wind farms. I think there are more turbines than in previous years, but that could just be my imagination. These are near the town of Walla Walla (just above the Walla Walla River).

At the Gorge

After spending Sunday night at a hotel in Portland, we came to the Gorge and set up camp near Stevenson. This is a great campground, with individual tent (and RV) sites, nice clean bathrooms, a playground for kids, and a quiet location.










We decided to visit Multnomah Falls, which is just west of where we are camping, and east of Portland. The weather has been unseasonably cool, just like at home, so instead of paddling on a flat river, Paul suggested we take Holly for a drive and head here.

Ferry Ride

We took a short trip over to Vancouver Island to visit Paul's parents. Today, we rode the ferry from Victoria to Port Angeles in Washington State.

I had a bit of a frequent rider day yesterday - we came over and just after we got off the BC Ferry, Paul mentioned something about our passports - which I had left at home! I had to call my mom, and get her to pick them up at our house, then meet me at the ferry. Luckily, she was just arriving at the airport, to drop my sister off on her Britain trip so it was convenient for her to head back.

Paul and Holly dropped me off at the ferry and headed to Sooke. I got back to Vancouver, and grabbed the passports from my mom, but just missed the ferry back by a minute or two. I ended up having to wait another hour for the next one. Paul drove back from Sooke (about an hour's drive) to pick me up, and I made it to Sooke in time for dinner!

The concrete was dry enough for us to set up our outdoor table and chairs - which haven't been used in over 3 years!!!


It was even sunny enough to put up the umbrella!


And guess who was the first to lounge in my new lounger?! (wearing MY sunglasses to boot!)


We even had the neighbours over for an impromptu barbecue!


The front walkway looks quite different as well - looks great and is a perfect transition from the city sidewalk.
