Today we docked in Skagway. After breakfast, we went for a walk around town - it was a bit drizzly - our first sighting of precipitation! We were told be some of the crew that we had been lucky with the weather so far (especially since it was the first sailing to Alaska on the Volendam this year), because last year they had fog, cloud, and rain for nearly the first 3 months of the season!
The town was bit larger than Juneau with more to see (besides stores!). Rather than just one main street, there are side streets and more of a grid-like pattern to the town. It's a very quaint, cute little town.
The White Pass & Yukon Route links Skagway and Whitehorse, Yukon by rail. We didn't know it was that close - just a 2 hour drive! Paul met someone from our ship who rented a car & drove to Whitehorse to golf for the afternoon, and then come back! Next time we'll have to try actually riding the train!

We discovered a small museum in town and went inside. They had some animal pelts and artifacts like canoes & sleds. Holly had fun on a "treasure hunt" looking for items on a kids' fun sheet they gave her.
Holly discovered a giant chess board by the pool - she enjoyed playing with Paul every day!
At dinner tonight, Teguh made Holly a "talking" duck (we think it's a duck)!
