Alaskan Cruise - our first day

Today we boarded a cruise ship for our trip to Alaska! It was our first time leaving from Vancouver (we came back on a cruise from San Diego in 2007) and we were looking forward to it!

We got to Canada Place and saw our ship ready to go! This is the first trip to Alaska this season for this particular ship . . .

We joined Nana and Grand-dad on the cruise we gave them (with Paul's brothers) for their 50th Anniversary.

Here is the "ticket" I made up to give them at Christmas . . .

Holly is a little traveller for sure - she loves to stay in hotels and is generally a great traveller! She has been ready to go for about a week (at least) and she even gets to miss school for this!

We boarded at about 1:30pm and went for a quick lunch at the Lido buffet.

At about 2:30pm we saw my Aunt Gloria, my cousin Alison and her little boy Owen - they came to say "bon voyage"! We were calling to Owen and he kept looking up, but we're not sure if he saw us or not!

Exploring our home for this week, the M.S. Volendam. This ship is identical to the Zaandam, which is the ship we cruised home on from San Diego! Here is the link to our trip in 2007, Holly looks sooo little!

In case the elevators seem to be taking a while, you can have a little nap!

Another visit - this one from Ivy and Ho! They waved to us and then went for a quick drink as we explored some more . . .

. . . then they came back to wave us off!

Mirror image photos from Ivy . . .

The skyline looks so beautiful from the water - and especially on a gorgeous Vancouver day like today!

A very tiny Ivy and Ho . . .

Can you still see them?! (Hint: Click on the photo to get a bigger view - they are standing just above the second Canadian flag, under the big white sail!)

More scenic shots . . .

And a final one from Ivy of our ship sailing off to Alaska . . . thanks for seeing us off!

We went inside and sat by a window to look out as we sailed under the Lion's Gate Bridge and past Stanley Park . . .

Our dessert looked so good tonight, I had to take a picture! Mmmmm, yummy! Better not eat too many of these this week!

Anyone up for a quick dip before heading to bed? Holly is!
